::Suck my “UltraViolet Sound” Kiss

Disco popish electronic songs and glittering LA glamour define Ultraviolet Sound’s artistic style.  The duo, consisting of Sarah Hudson and Sami Diament, have been garnering attention from some of today’s biggest pop icons -  having shared the stage with the likes of Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Robyn, and N.E.R.D. Their self- titled debut record, planned to be released on April 12th, is filled with songs that have huge sing along hooks, powerful forward driving bass and synth soundscapes, and is rounded out with mellow segments that allow the beat to drop hard.

Weeks before the premiere WFK had an exclusive opportunity to talk to the band. Check out what we found out!

WFK: How do you define what being an artist means?
UVS: Steven Pressfield sums it up for us. He wrote one of our favorite books called “The War of Art” says “the artist and the warrior live by the same code of necessity, that the battle must be fought anew everyday”.

Growing up, what rockstar were you fascinated with?
Sami: Kurt Cobain
Sarah: Madonna

When did Ultraviolet Sound came together?  What was that experience like?
UVS started when we began collaborating on music in 2007 out of our mutual passion for electronic music, we didn’t name the project until we moved to LA later that year.  It was a new chapter for both of us, personally and creatively.

When you composed “Suck My Kiss” did you know it was going to be the first single of Ultraviolet? What is the story behind this song?
We had no clue what any of the singles were gonna be, we just make the music that comes out.  On the day we started writing Suck My Kiss, we were discussing female and male sexuality- the similarities and differences – and wanted to create something that brought these two forces together in a fun way.

If we take your upcoming album’s songs and converted into graphics; what would the picture look like?
A colorful galaxy suspended in a purple desert, with an infinite horizon made up of waves and then digitally tweaked by the genius Sakke Soini.

When are you visiting our city, Miami?
Tomorrow, if you guys fly us out.  LETS GOOOO!!!

Who’s on the map, musically, from Miami for you?
2 Live Crew, Uffie, DJ Craze. We also huge fans of the Scarface soundtrack- I think were gonna watch it now.
